Cook them over high heat in a pan with oil and garlic. As soon as the single clam opens, immediately remove it from the heat with tongs and place it in a bowl. Do this until all the clams are open. This precaution will allow you to have uniform cooking for all the molluscs and prevent them from drying out, therefore losing consistency.
